Why Pine?

We chose to build guitars out of pine for a multitude of reasons:  It has a beautiful bright resonant sound, and tends be quite light.  It also can be rapidly replenished so we can sort through much more stock to find the right combinations for sounds.

It isn't all sunshine and rainbows though... It tends to be a weaker wood with a lot of sap, so many body blanks do not make it through the roasting process, forming large cracks or irreparably warping.  These trade offs are fine by us because those changes may have occurred over time and we are preventing a faulty instrument from leaving the shop.

The 'dent-able' nature of pine is really not a big deal to us either as we live in a day and age where relics abound and most people will pay more for a guitar with less paint than more.  Even if you aren't into relics, don't use the guitar as a hammer and it should be fine.  Remember, Pine probably constitutes a large portion of the framing on the home you live in, so the guitar will hold up just fine.
